Storage and Transport Formats Working Group Shares libavif Updates

AOMedia’s working groups are laser focused on improving existing technology and developing new solutions, and our members’ hard work does not go unnoticed. The Storage and Transport Formats Working Group (STFWG) recently shared some details on their work relating to the release of libavif v1.0.4.

Libavif is one of the main AV1 Image File Format (AVIF) codec implementations. Libavif v1.0.0 was released on Aug 28, 2023 as open-source software and was the first libavif release with a stable API and backward compatibility guarantee. The v1.0.4 release is a patch update. Why is this important?

This patch delivers a few bug fixes that the working group deemed important enough to backport to the v1.0.x branch.
