AOMedia Member Spotlight with Allegro's VP of Marketing, Nathalie Brault
Please introduce your company and yourself briefly.
Allegro DVT is a leading provider of compliance test streams and HW video IPs. For more than 17 years, we have developed a strong understanding of video compression technologies which we leverage to create world-class video compression and decompression HW IPs and compliance test streams.
Our video IPs are highly optimized for integration in complex SOCs by minimizing silicon area and power consumption while maintaining a premium video quality. Our customers develop advanced SOC solutions that target multiple verticals such as video surveillance, automotive and cloud-based video transcoding.
Through our compliance test streams packages, we also help our customers to validate the compliance of their decoder implementations with popular video standards.
I look after marketing and business development for Allegro with a worldwide team spread over Europe and China.
What first brought you to AOMedia, and why did you decide to become a member?
Allegro has been a member of AOM since 2016. We actively contributed to improving the AV1 specification as we share the vision of other AOM members to provide an efficient and cost-effective video compression technology to the industry.
What are you currently working on with regard to AV1? How will end-users benefit from your work? Businesses? Markets?
We have provided AV1 test streams to our partners since 2017 which they use to ensure full compliance of their AV1 decoder implementations.
We have recently launched a complete set of AV1 encoding and decoding IPs that are scalable up to 8K. By working with Allegro, SOC vendors can now source all the AV1 building blocks they need by working with a single IP provider for easier integration and faster time to market. With our help, our partners are now able to accelerate the introduction of their AV1 capable solutions in various markets such as mobile phones, TV, STB, and cloud-based video transcoding and storage platforms.
What AOMedia efforts are you most excited about?
We are excited to see AOM efforts to ensure rapid adoption of AV1 and early work on new tools targeting potential future codec.
