AOM Decoder Q4 2024
It has been an exciting and successful few months for the Alliance for Open Media. On September 9, we launched our AOMedia Adoption Showcase, which features user stories from seven AV1 adopters: Agora Ateme, Bitmovin, Google, VideoLAN, Vimeo and Visionular. This showcase highlights the advantages these companies gained through AV1 adoption and AOMedia membership. Additional member stories are already in the works and will be added in the coming months, providing further insights into the applications and benefits of AV1. Read more about the adoption showcase in our launch release.
Industry Events
AOMedia had great representation at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam last month. AWS, Ateme, BLUDOT, Ittiam and Visionular were all on hand at the event. Learn more about what they were promoting in our pre-show blog.
In June, AOMedia traveled to Taichung, Taiwan for the 2024 Picture Coding Symposium (PCS). At the event, Dr. Anne Aaron of Netflix presented a keynote, “Video Compression in the Wild: Journey of a Video Streaming Company,” in which she highlighted how Netflix is using AV1 and updated on progress for next-gen video codecs. Additionally, AOMedia member companies Meta and Netflix sponsored a social event that brought together approximately 80 attendees for networking and conversations on the future of AV1, among other topics. Participants from AOMedia member companies Google, Apple, and Amazon were also at PCS and helped with the social event.
